As some know, I'm the caregiver for my husband's grandmother - whom we shall call Granny. For years I've heard of Granny's mother, Rachel, being an avid amateur writer. I've even seen one large manuscript around the house, still sealed in brown paper and tied up with string, that she'd sent to herself in the mail all those years ago to prove her copyright.
Earlier this year I got it in my head to search for that manuscript, and while I didn't find that one, I did find another, shorter one - found in Chapter 5 of Rachel's Story, my new release that's free right now.
This little tale by Rachel Clark was actually written 100 years ago, by her own hand, and paper clipped to her nurse's registration certificate - the certificate is dated December of 1914.
This short story historical fiction is about Katie, a young caregiver taking care of an older woman whose mother was a writer, just like in real life. Katie goes on a search for a manuscript written by her Rachel Clark.
Will she find what she's looking for?
