Set Your Sights On Things Above
We so quickly get our eyes off God. Let's get back into

Eclipse 2017I suppose this point has already been made, but I'm going to make it again... This day, August 21, 2017, is marked by a total solar eclipse sweeping across the North American continent, and thus all the way across the country of the United States of America. Thousands, probably millions, of people gathered along the line where the totality would be visible. They came a few days ago, they stayed, they watched. They all looked up at the eclipse. And despite the local populations being rather annoyed by the added traffic, I haven't yet heard of any violence breaking out. No one organized these groups into color, ethnicity, creed, religion, political views. No one hired agitators. No one had armed guards standing between different groups. There's been so much unrest in our country lately, but let me make this one point clear. The people today came together to watch the sky, and they got along while doing it. People who truly hate each other won't get along while doing anything. People who are racist won't stand next to someone who's different from them. People who truly hold hatred and bitterness in their hearts, can't help when that hatred comes out - because it's controlling them. So let me point this out - the country is not as full of hatred and bitterness as some factions want us to believe it is. If we were actually filled with it, we couldn't have had such a huge gathering ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY and have it remain peaceful. Look at this list someone made of 19 images of people watching the eclipse: ECLIPSE-WATCHERS This can't happen in a country of people who are at each other's throats. This ONLY happens in a country with people who actually CAN communicate with each other... people who are actually able to be reasonable and talk through their issues. This day should remind us all which direction we should be looking. When we were all looking UP, we weren't fighting. Something bigger was happening. And more importantly, remember that looking UP is what we all should be doing. Look UP to God. Believe on Jesus and look UP to Him, and realize that something bigger is happening. The next time someone stands on a corner and holds up a sign that reads ANY slogan you might disagree with, stop and read the slogan... then look UP. First look UP to God, and remember that this is a person who God loves just like He loves you. Then remember that this person has a reason they're standing there. You aren't obligated to agree with that reason. But it might be nice if we learned how to talk to each other again. |
