We think of love as a feeling, because it comes with something so powerful it often overwhelms us. Writers want to bring up all those emotions when telling a tale of love, songwriters and artists, too. Even God Himself I believe acknowledges there is feeling in love, when He gave us the verse: ...Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment...Mark 12:30 There are numerous times in the Bible where God tells us to love Him with all our heart - implying there is an emotional seat for that love. Thing is, those verses are commands, not emotion-driven appeals to our feelings, but commands to our minds. God doesn't command us to do something He knows we aren't capable of accomplishing - with His help, of course. So to me, that indicates we must be leading our heart, not letting our heart lead us around. I believe this misconception is a huge reason for the high divorce rate in our country. Sometimes couples go along just fine for awhile, then wake up one day and look at their spouse, and just don't 'feel the fireworks' right then. They may go on that way for a bit, hoping those fireworks show up again, and when they don't, they give up. If they realized they can bring those fireworks back, maybe they'd stick better. When love is seen as an action first, the feelings follow, because you open that door. The heart wants something to follow. Love is.. an action. Love is DOING for someone else. Sometimes love is making them a sandwich. Sometimes it is standing by their side when they're in the hospital facing a serious illness. Love is getting wet in the rain for them. Love is opening a door. I really do love that line 'Love is an open door.' So this Valentine's Day, go out and Do for someone else, whether you feel it yet or not. Hey great post. I listen to Joyce Myers a lot and she is always telling us to wake up with the thought how can I help someone today. I so agree with her and you.

Today, love is cleaning! I'm taking a break because the dust sparked allergies, but I'm about to hop right back into it again!
