Christian Fiction FridayChristian Fiction Friday is a weekly blog hop where authors post short (400-word or less) snippets from their current works in progress. It is hosted by Alana Terry and Hallee Bridgeman. This excerpt is a little bit from the third book in the KerryAnne Dawson Mystery Series. ..................................................................................................... That next Sunday morning started out awkward. He hadn’t been able to just quit the Higher Ground class like he’d quit the editor position on my little paper. The Sunday school class relied on him, and I knew he loved it anyway. He’d never quit working in there. Instead, Tim acted like I had quit – or didn’t exist at all, throwing himself into interacting with the class as if his life depended on it. All day Saturday I had successfully avoided him, studying in my room and eating meals with Angie and the girls way before he’d be likely to show up in the dining hall. There’d been other days in the semester when I hadn’t even seen him walking across campus, but this was different. Thing is, my special sight means I can often tell other people’s reactions when no one else can. So this Sunday, whenever I walked past Tim, his energy jumped and roiled, reaching out and pulling back on itself. That’s the only way to describe it. Plus, he was quieter than normal, like he was holding a tight rein on a restless horse. At first I thought it was just normal agitation, until I saw someone else walk past him and there was no reaction at all. It was my presence that was sending him into this tailspin. Doing my best to put personal drama aside, I turned my attention back to the class, but it was awhile before I could really act like I was in the class, and not just watching myself through a window. .................................................................................................................... I hope you enjoyed this little bit from book 3, set to be released in the spring of 2016. The first two books in the KerryAnne Dawson cozy mystery series are going to be featured in a Facebook event tomorrow, Saturday, September 12. Please come check them out, as well as all the other authors that will be there throughout the day. Mystery Writers Revealed Facebook Event |
